The long and frustrating wait of more than eight months for the local cricketers will be over soon as the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) is starting training activities of its various age group teams from Thursday.

The governing body of cricket in the region have obtained written permission from the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) for the restarting the cricket practice. The VCA has been waiting for the green signal from the NMC for the last few weeks to resume cricketing activities as several other state cricket teams have already begun their preparations.

According to the VCA administration, the training will be conducted in three different parts. The batting training will be held at its indoor batting facility. The bowling practice will be done in the nets, while the fielding drills will be held in the ground by forming small groups. Different teams have been allotted different time slots to ensure that all safety protocols are followed.

The VCA will scrupulously follow all guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures recommended by the local authorities and the BCCI. To oversee all medical protocols as required by BCCI, the VCA will be appointing a medical officer. The Medical Officer will also educate the players and the support staff on the protocols to be followed.

This will be done by means of a webinar on Wednesday as well as physical instructions to each group. All the players, coaches and support staff have undergone COVID-19 tests on Tuesday. Only those who have been found to be negative will be allowed to join in the training slated to begin in a couple of days time.

The players are also properly instructed to maintain all safety norms even when they are not in the training camps. All the playing and training areas have been properly sanitized and use of sanitizer, gloves and masks will be implemented, said the VCA officials.

The training camps will be supervised by the coaches, physios, trainers of the VCA. Vice-president and chairman CADC Prashant Vaidya will oversee the entire process.
